Went corset-shopping with the lovely Scarlett last week. There is a shop in London, called Fairy Gothmother, where lucky girls shop for corsets and the unlucky ones just look. But I was happy to browse the stock, help Scarlett pick her very first corset (along with the intricacies of getting in and out of the things) and generally enjoy myself.
Two amusing things.
Firstly, while I reclined on a chaise-lounge and watched Scarlett being laced in, she smiled at me as I watched intently whilst the laces were drawn tighter. I was watching to see how the waist-panelling went in. Not ogling. Honest.
“It’s just like going shopping with my mother!” she said happily.
The assistants giggled. I scowled.
“Are you saying I remind you of your mother?” I said.
“Er….no!” said Scarlett hastily. “You’re my Fairy Godmother!”
I mimed digging a hole with my hands…..
Then later, after we’d got her into one, she gazed at herself in the mirror and then asked the clinker question.
“How on earth do chaps get you out of this?”
I smiled. The smile of someone who’s been wearing a corset for eight years (not continuously I might add!) and who knows exactly what effect they have on men.
“They don’t take them off you. That’s the whole point.” I smirked. “They just take your knickers down….”
God I love corsets. One of the sexiest looks known to womankind. Thank you God! And Fairy Gothmother!
I need a fairy godmother. And a corset. In no particular order!!!
