My journey to work takes an hour from door to office and I’m normally doing it quite early in the morning – I arrive at my office at. 7.30am.
This morning, I was hurrying from Metropolitan line to Northern line and as I hurried down some stairs and rounded a corner, head down, commuter-style, I was suddenly sent flying onto my backside by another commuter coming up the stairs, also rushing with his head down.
It was quite a shock – he was a tall burly man and I wasn’t ready for it at all, so flew backwards, painfully striking my sore bottom on a step and the contents of my bag tipping out.
He was duly apologetic – in fact mortified – and in a flurry of apologies, he looked at me properly for the first time, whilst extending his hand to me.
Oooo my.
He was gorgeous.
“Are you all right?” he said. Nice voice as well.
“Err…yes!” I managed. I took his hand, which was warm and he helped me up, then he bent to pick up my bag and restore the scattered contents. I tried to restore my scattered wits.
“Have you hurt yourself?” he asked.
“No.” I said. “I already had a sore bottom anyway.” It came out of my mouth without making any connection with my brain and as soon as I said it, I felt a scarlet flush rush onto my cheeks.
He gave me a really devastating smile and my knees went funny and I nearly sat back on the step again.
“Really?” he said, eyebrow arched. “Well I’m sure you deserved it.”
And then, he was gone, loping up the steps with easy grace, making his way to the Victoria Line.
Sigh. I wish every commute was like that….
Tee hee – sounds like an interesting commute.
Jessica
, that was a serendipitous meeting, perhaps you will meet again.
Well do I know that commuter feeling, Maida Vale to Waterloo on the Bakerloo Line was my daily commute, was never fortune enough to meet a possible playmate.
Warm hugs,
Paul.
My goodness, that’s hot!
I’m back to commuting for a while, and mine are dull, though I can occasionally be seen grinning like a loon on the train as some dirty memory or other creeps to mind…
[...] Jessica wrote a post today which described an awesome midweek missed connection, though I’m sure she wasn’t attempting this challenge. [...]
ROFL hands up who thinks the gorgeous man must have gone to the office and spent the whole day thinking about Jessica’s comment?
Great post!
